Headquartered in Baltimore, MD, 1st Electric is a veteran owned business founded in November of 2005. We are a full service electrical and communications infrastructure contractor offering complete turnkey solutions to both government and commercial clients. 1st Electric adamantly professes to hire only the most qualified individuals who understand and uphold the core values of the company: Focus, Integrity, Reputation, Safety and Teamwork. We currently serve Federal, state, and local government clients, Fortune 1000 corporations, universities, educational institutions, high-tech and biotech firms, as well as other organizations with large-scale, complex, and mission-critical infrastructure needs.

Although a young company, 1st Electric has deep roots in the construction industry built on decades of experience and history. In 1968, an Italian immigrant by the name of Primo China (father of Rick China, President and Owner of 1st Electric) started a small family electrical contracting business. He was fanatical about quality, customer service, integrity and reputation. Over the next 30 years, the company flourished and grew to become one of the premier firms in the Mid-Atlantic region. In 1999, ownership felt the timing was right and decided to sell the company to a Fortune 1000 NYSE Company. Six short years later, 1st Electric was founded by Rick China with the support of numerous former employees as well as several others whom Rick had built strong business relationships with throughout his tenure in the industry. These experienced individuals make up the nucleus of 1st Electric today.

Our company structure enables us to provide client solutions from concept and construction through operations and maintenance. Our pre-construction services allow us to perform all facets of electrical and communications projects. Regardless of its complexity, our experienced field force can build your project. 1st Electric prides itself on staying on top of the latest technological advances in the electrical and communications world.

In its short existence, 1st Electric already boasts a number of major accomplishments. We have finished over 150 projects greater than $25,000 in revenue, with our largest project to date totaling over $9,000,000. 1st Electric has already opened satellite offices in two locations to better serve our customers and expand our region. The first, on the Maryland’s Eastern Shore, is enabling us to perform work on the coasts of Maryland, Delaware and Virginia, as well as ongoing improvements at Dover Air Force Base. Our second satellite office, in Aberdeen, MD focuses on northern Maryland and the BRAC expansion at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds.

Top notch performance on large-scale, complex construction has given 1st Electric the opportunities to showcase its talented workforce. Some of our notable projects include renovations at Nimitz Library and King Hall at the U.S. Naval Academy, multiple schools (both new and renovations), and the Smithsonian Institute in Landover, MD.

In addition to large construction, 1st Electric features a service and maintenance department. Our commitment to quality and customer service has enabled our Service Department to grow rapidly and thrive on return business.
